IN Service Interaction and Call Control at Vodafone Spain

Vodafone Spain’s second OpenCloud Rhino platform is also operational and provides a range of Intelligent Network (“IN”) services using OpenCloud Rhino's "Service Interaction" capabilities to Vodafone Spain’s subscribers.

One of the leading residential subscriber services is called Vodafone en tu casa – “Vodafone at Home”. This is being advertised direct to the residential subscriber base. See the Vodafone link on the left.

The service has two options:

  1. Use your mobile phone to call fixed and mobile numbers when you are at home and benefit from a reduced tariff when calling fixed numbers. The Vodafone network utilises OpenCloud Rhino to determine in real-time, during the call, whether the subscriber is in their registered home address when they make the call.
  2. Subscribe to a fixed geographic telephone number that can be associated with your mobile phone account. The Rhino platform will then route inbound calls to the mobile phone when the fixed number is called and if the mobile phone subscriber is in their home area. If they are outside the home, then a specific announcement is played, a voice message can be left, and the mobile subscriber is alerted by SMS.

The Vodafone en tu casa service brings the advantages of the mobile phone to your home phone number. The subscriber can keep their fixed number, no installation is needed, full mobile phone capabilities are provided, no monthly payment is required – and the subscriber earns “Vodafone points” on all their calling too.

The platform provides other IN services too, such as "Eurotarifa", a Eurotariff Information Service, that informs the customer about the cost of voice, SMS, MMS and data roaming tariff rates.

Other Vodafone Spain IN services are currently under development on the Rhino platform.
